Current project(s)

Football Fandom and Holocaust Education is my PhD project at Erasmus University Rotterdam, conducted within Sport and Nation research programme. The project examines football fandom in relation to Holocaust education, with a particular focus on antisemitic discourse in both online and offline football cultures. It also engages with educational initiatives aimed at preventing discrimination and antisemitism in Dutch football stadiums, in collaboration with key stakeholders such as Feyenoord’s Fancoach project and the Anne Frank House.

RethinkingAnimals is an independent project I am currently developing out of a growing interest in (critical) animal studies, human–animal relations and multispecies research. Rather than presenting established expertise, the platform is intended as an open space for exploration, critical reflection, and dialogue, bringing together academic insights, empirical research, and personal or collective reflections. As the project is very much in formation, I especially welcome questions, ideas, and contributions from others who are also thinking through how animals are positioned in history, culture, and society, and how human–animal relations might be rethought.

Past project(s)

Football Makes History was a project that explored how football heritage can contribute to social change and historical consciousness through local educational partnerships between football clubs and schools. The project brought together educators, researchers, heritage professionals, and civil society organisers. More information is available on the project website here

Changing the Chants was a European project aimed at addressing antisemitism in football through informal education and law enforcement. Supported by the EU’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme, it brought together Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord Rotterdam, FARE Network, and the Anne Frank House to examine how football clubs can educate fans about antisemitic behaviour. The project resulted in a compendium of best practices, policy recommendations, and a documentary by Stefano di Pietro exploring the issue from multiple perspectives. You can view the documentary below.
